What happened in March 2012 – Canada -

In March, There were numerous events with regard to March 11, 2011 in many countries; Canada was one of them. 3.11 Portrait Project participated a few events including the events we have mentioned before.

The University of Western Ontario, London, ON – March 11, 2012-

University Students Council organized a event called “KIZUNA – Ties of friendship”. (Event Organizer: UWO 3.11 2012 project committee (Daisuke Suzuki)

Kick It For Japan 2, Toronto, ON – March 10, 2012-

A charity event organized by Japanese Football club of Toronto.  They reported that “March 11th 2012. Together, we have raised $12,810.37 which will be sent to the organization called Tohoku Soccer Association.”

I met a young man from Miyagi at the event. When he was going to say something to me, he burst into tears and lost any words. He was one of survivors from the earthquake. After a little while, he started to talk about his feeling slowly, and that made me clearly understand it is not a past event for them at all; People are still straggling in physically and/or emotionally. I will not forget about him. As a supporter, it is important to remember that: “what happened in March 11.2011 in Japan, and they are still dealing with it. ”

Participation:One day conference at The York University “Japan’s Earthquake:Lessons Learnt”

The York University (Toronto, Canada) will be displaying some of the 3.11 Portrait Project at a conference on March 9 called “Japan’s Earthquake: Lessons Learnt”.
